Foreign Languages

Most parents are interested in exposing their children to a foreign language for one or more of the following three reasons:
- they are not native English speakers and they have a different mother tongue
- they feel that early childhood is the best time to learn a foreign language or
- that it will help them later in life since a foreign language can help their children reach more people and a larger body of work.

While all of these are excellent reasons, physiological studies have shown that speaking two or more languages can actually change the wiring in the brain and significantly enhance the cognitive process. The brains of bilingual people have been found to operate differently from those of single language speakers.

We offer Spanish and Mandarin classes for both our preschool and elementary children. Classes are held in an immersive environment and they expose children to a multifaceted experience that includes language, literature and culture.
